    Einbinder Dunn & Goniea has formed the New York Franchisee Association (“NYFA”) which held its first meeting in July.  The meeting was well attended and highly successful, bringing franchisees from various franchise systems and industries together to discuss important issues including, among others, pending increases in the New York State minimum wage, the new federal overtime regulations and the potential effect of recent developments concerning the “joint employer doctrine” on franchising.  The NYFA’s objective is to serve as a resource for franchisees in the New York Metropolitan Area, sharing information and educating each other on issues of common interest.  The second NYFA meeting is expected to take place in September on a date to be announced.

    The firm’s franchise law group closed the sale of 7 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants for a purchase price in excess of $7 million. The complex transaction also necessitated the simultaneous assignment and assumption of leases for each of the spaces.

    – Sale/Leaseback of a major motion picture theater property, financed in part by the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency;

    – Anchor lease for the expanded Bricktown Center on Staten Island.
